The index began as a way to keep practical notes on names and cues that are easy to dismiss: a button that sounds polite but vague, a directional label that hides the real destination, a product term that feels precise until a customer compares it with the next shelf. Jateu treats these details as editorial infrastructure.
Listen first
Collect the phrase, mark, label, or color in its natural setting before deciding what it should mean. A cue is never judged alone; it is read beside the pressure, route, and expectation around it.
Name the work
Define the job the signal is doing. Is it separating choices, calming risk, speeding recognition, asking for trust, or giving a reader the confidence to continue?
Rewrite lightly
Prefer the smallest revision that improves the next decision. Jateu values language that can survive repeated use, not language that wins attention once.
Editorial stance
Jateu is not a trend glossary and it is not a branding showcase. The site is closer to a compact listening desk for people who work with public-facing language: editors, founders, museum teams, software designers, neighborhood operators, newsletter writers, and anyone who has watched a simple label cause a complicated hesitation.
Entries favor concrete scenes. A title is tested against the article it introduces. A wayfinding cue is tested against the body in motion. A category name is tested against the decision it claims to simplify. When a word becomes too large, Jateu asks what it must actually help someone do. When a word becomes too thin, Jateu looks for the material detail that can give it weight again.
The result is a practical vocabulary for small choices. Readers should leave with a cleaner name for a problem, a sharper question for a review session, or a quieter phrase that can be used without a long explanation.
